Utah County's Toxic Tradition Is Under Threat

Date: October 20, 2002
Author: Michael Janofsky
QUOTE: If passed, the measure would bar all higher level radioactive materials from the state and raise taxes fourfold on revenues generated by low-grade material.

ABSTRACT: Tooele County, Utah has stored much of the country’s toxic material, from chemical and biological weapons to radioactive waste. But if passed, a new ballot measure would forbid the county to continue doing this, and as a result possibly jeopardize revenue and jobs in the county.
