QUOTE: Microsoft appears to have shut down one of the world's largest distributors of "mod chips"--gray-market add-ons that allow Microsoft's Xbox and other video game consoles to play pirated games.

ABSTRACT: Lik Sang, a successful, international distributer of mod chips is the target of Microsoft's current litigation.  Used with game consoles, mod chips allow users to play "illegally copied disks, run unauthorized software, and play discs intended for other geographic regions."  Although mod chips have not been detrimental to the gaming business, Microsoft is intent on bring Lik Sang down.
