As Tuition Rises, So Do Subsidies : Grants, Scholarships, Jobs Pay a Hefty Part of the College Bill

Date: August 5, 2001
Author: Albert B. Crenshaw
QUOTE: Unless there is a price revolt by students and their families, costs seem likely to continue rising, especially at the elite colleges

ABSTRACT: Law of supply and demand dictates the more demand there is for something, the higher its price it will be, and top of the line colleges and educational institutions are no exception.  As long as students demand to attend first-string colleges, their tuition will continue to rise, and all of the second or lesser-string colleges will accordingly follow suit as well.
