Report Says CIA Distorted Iraq Data: Senate Panel Cites Exaggerations in Paper Made Public in 2002

Date: July 12, 2004
Author: Dana Priest
QUOTE: The statement, the report said, "conveyed a level of threat to the United States homeland inconsistent with the classified National Intelligence Estimate."

ABSTRACT: A Senate report has found that information contained in the October 2002 intellegence briefing from the Central Intelligence Agency to the Senate greatly exaggerated intelligence material that was used in part to support the decision to invade Iraq because of the threat of use of weapons of mass destruction.
