Date: July 10, 2003
Author: Marian Burros
QUOTE: If people eat foods high in trans fat and there is no warning label and then they have a heart attack at some point, there has to be legal liability.

ABSTRACT: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will soon require food processors to include data on their labels about trans fatty acids, a fat possibly more harmful that cholesterol and saturated fats. Food manufacturers did not previously have to disclose use of these substances.
